Events
Many events are organised in the Groene Hart all year round, from sports events (the LAURA and the 20 of Alphen) to markets (Cheese Market in Gouda, VVV Summer Markets in Alphen aan den Rijn). Become acquainted with Woerden during the Woerden Holiday Week, experience one of the largest carnival parades in Montfoort, let yourself be surprised during the Silver Day in Schoonhoven, enjoy the Witches’ festival in Oudewater, and these are only a few examples of the enormous offer.

Naturally, the Groene Hart also offers many other amusement possibilities, both for children at the children’s farms and the puppet theatre and for adults at the casino or the cinema.

Attractions
Enjoyment for the whole family is provided in Alphen aan den Rijn, for example. It has two fantastic attraction parks. Experience the living past in theme park Archeon. Immediately upon entry, you imagine yourself in the early Dutch ages and you stroll through Prehistory, the Roman Age and the Middle Ages. When you are an animal lover, you should certainly go the Avifauna Bird Park. Let yourself be amazed by the most striking representatives of the bird kingdom. Visit the exciting bird demonstration, let the loris eat out of your hand and watch the birds being fed. Children can enjoy themselves marvellously in the giant playground with the highest slide of the Netherlands.
